The Adirondack Mountain Region provides some of the most picturesque, enjoyable and exciting day trips in the Northeast. Fortunately, I’ve done them all – and here are some of the best to take in August.
#4 – Two Days Away – to Alexandria Bay – for a Pirate Day
From Albany take I90 west to Utica. Hop on Rt.12 north. Take a left onto Rt. 365 in Barneveld and stop at Van’s Tavern for an incredible burger that’s as big as the plate. Get back on Rt.12 and continue heading north, through Boonville, Lowville and into Watertown. Take Rt. 37 north to Theresa, and then Rt.26 north to Alexandria Bay.
This 2-day ride is great any time in the Summer/Fall, but August 12-21 are the famous Bill Johnson’s Pirates Days, a 10-day festival filled with Buccaneer fun and excitement for the entire family.
So, Maties this trip can very easily become more that just a 2-day adventure!
And remember: You’re Never Lost When Riding Your Bike!
